Yep - he doesn't look like a rock guitar player, or anyone that a teenager would want to take lessons from, because he doesn't look like players in bands teenagers watch.

But here's the kicker - he does look like the sort of person a parent can leave their young child with.  He does look old enough to know stuff he will teach and as a parent that teaching is what I'm paying for.  

Yep - after 60+ years of playing in all situations there's stuff I can teach.  There's stuff I know works live.  And I know a lot of stuff that I can advise you to steer clear of and not waste time on.

It must work - in over ten years of working full time teaching students, I never had less that 50 of them - and once even topped out at 76 students every week (yep that was too many!)
